Twisted pair cables for Ethernet and other network physical layers are standardized as Category 6 cable (Cat 6), which is backwards compatible with Category 5/5e and Category 3 cable standards. Compared to Cat 5 and Cat 5e, Cat 6 adheres greatly to stricter crosstalk and system noise requirements. Compared to Cat 5 and Cat 5e’s 100 MHz performance specifications, the cable standard calls for performance up to 250 MHz. While AE Connect Category 6 cable is characterized at 500 MHz and has improved alien crosstalk characteristics. 10GBASE-T can run for the same 100 metres (330 feet) maximum distance as prior Ethernet variants, as opposed to Category 6 cable, which has a reduced maximum length of 55 metres (180 ft) when used for 10GBASE-T. Unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) Cat 6 was formalised in 2001 and developed as a development of UTP Cat 5e. Cat 6’s architecture demanded higher levels of manufacturing quality, which resulted in less noise, crosstalk and better performance. In June 2002, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) released Cat 6. Our enhanced version of Cat6 called “Cat6A” supports up to 10 Gbps speeds.
The printing on the cable’s sheath side identifies the cat 6 cables. ANSI/TIA-568 defines cable types, connector types, and wiring topologies. AE Connect Cat 6 cable is often terminated in 8P8C modular connectors with either T568A or T568B pin assignments. As long as both ends of a cable are terminated the same way, performance is equivalent. The overall performance is reduced and may not fulfil Cat 6 performance requirements if Cat 6-rated patch cables, jacks, and connectors are not used with Cat 6 wire. Conductors must meet the Cat 6 specification’s requirement for pure copper. Non-compliant or fake cables, particularly those made of copper-clad aluminium wire (CCA), have become more prevalent in the market. This has put the producers or installers of such duplicate cables in danger of legal repercussions.

Outdoor Cat5e The outer PE is sufficiently tough to prevent the breaking of the twisted pair during movement. The copper wire cannot be too soft or too firm in order to enable the fabrication and connection of the connector. It is challenging to make the connector if it is too soft. The longest Cat 6 cable that can be utilised for 10/100/1000BASE-T is 100 metres (328 ft). This consists of 5 metres (16 feet) of stranded patch cable between each jack and the attached device in addition to 90 metres (295 feet) of solid horizontal cabling between the patch panel and the wall jack. Unshielded Cat 6 cables shouldn’t be longer than 55 metres for 10GBASE-T, and Cat 6A cables shouldn’t be longer than 100 metres. AE Connect Cat 6A performance is defined for frequencies up to 500 MHz – almost twice that of Cat6. The Cat6A manufactured by AE Connect has an improved alien crosstalk specification as compared to Cat 6, which also picks up high levels of alien noise at high frequencies.
The AE Connect Category 6 and 6A cables must be properly installed and terminated to meet their specifications. The bend radius should be greater than four times the cable’s outer diameter; the cable must not be kinked or bent too tightly. The outer jacket cannot be stripped back more than 13 mm, and the wire pairs cannot be untwisted (0.51 in). In areas with strong electromagnetic interference (EMI), cable shielding might be necessary to prevent data corruption. A drain wire that travels through the cable alongside the twisted pairs is often used to maintain shielding from one cable end to the other.
